      <image:title>About - About Dr. Jazi</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Jazi is a board-certified psychiatrist with advanced training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). His work focuses on helping individuals achieve meaningful and lasting emotional change through a deeper, more focused therapeutic process. He completed his psychiatry residency at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and pursued additional fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His background in neuroscience and clinical psychiatry allows him to approach mental health conditions with both scientific understanding and psychological depth. In his practice, Dr. Jazi works with individuals who are often high-functioning but feel stuck, as well as those dealing with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive patterns, trauma-related difficulties, and persistent emotional or physical symptoms that have not improved with prior treatment. His approach goes beyond symptom management, focusing on identifying and resolving underlying emotional processes that contribute to ongoing distress. Treatment is typically conducted in 45–60 minute sessions, allowing for a more in-depth and effective therapeutic experience. When appropriate, medication management can be thoughtfully integrated into care. Dr. Jazi provides services in both English and Farsi and works with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - A More In-Depth Approach to Healing</image:title>
<image:caption>Many people seek help after trying therapy or medication without achieving the change they were hoping for. In these situations, a more focused and in-depth approach is often needed. Dr. Jazi’s practice is centered on Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), which addresses underlying emotional processes that contribute to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related physical symptoms. Rather than brief, symptom-focused visits, treatment is typically conducted in 45–60 minute sessions, allowing for a more thorough and effective therapeutic process. Care may include psychotherapy alone or a combination of psychotherapy and medication management, depending on individual needs. Both in-person and secure telehealth visits are available</image:caption>

<image:title>Farsi Speaking Psychiatrist - Dr. Jazi - Farsi Speaking Psychiatrist</image:title>
<image:caption>Fluent in Farsi, I graduated from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, in 2006. I had a strong enthusiasm for studying the brain function and after working in an under-served diverse area in Iran as a general practitioner, in 2007 I joined a neuroscience research lab at the University of Bremen in Germany. In 2009, to expand my studies in the field of neuroscience, I joined a graduate program at the Barrow Neurological Institute and Arizona State University to further study the brain. I have presented in many neuroscience conferences and I have published several papers in scientific journals. For a list of my papers please click here. My research background in the field of neuroscience was extremely helpful in understanding mental health disorders. And my enthusiasm to help Farsi speaking patients and families dealing with mental health problems, was an important motive to start my training in psychiatry. In 2014, I joined the Psychiatry Residency Program at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia. During my residency training I was working in both academic and community settings with a variety of patient populations. Having especial interest in mental health disorder in older adults, after graduating from residency in Adult Psychiatry, I did a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where I was trained more specifically to take care of older adults with mental health disorders. I graduated from Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at UCLA in 2019 and shortly after I began my private practice.</image:caption>

<image:caption>COVID-19 has taken so many lives all over the world and the situation in the United States was no exception. Moreover, it has negatively affected mental health in many families. Today, the need for having easy access to mental healthcare is felt more than ever. Thanks to technology communication, I am able to serve my patients using secure video visits to provide both medication management and psychotherapy, helping them improve their mental health especially during this tragic time in human history.</image:caption>
